Ladies' Coffee Morning at the Martyrs Inn

Tolpuddle's Community Cafe at Tolpuddle Village Hall
Saturdays: 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th and 31st October, 2026 from 9.30 am til 12 noon
The Community Cafe is now open every Saturday unless otherwise notified (on Facebook or Website) from 9.30 am til 11.30 - 12 ish.
Come and see us for lovely coffee, teas, cakes and pastries and of course to pick up your bakery order.
Occasionally, there'll be bacon and sausage butties.

Tolpuddle Old Chapel Sunday Sessions recommence after their summer break
Sunday, 18 October, 2026 from 5pm until 7pm
Sophie Wright: "Who's Afear'd"
The Tolpuddle Old Chapel Trust is pleased to announce the commencement of their second season of the Sunday Sessions. Our first performance is by the Time and Tide group who will be performing their Who’s Afear’d production.
Three performers (Sophie Wright, Richard Wirdnam and Martin Stephen) tell the 18th and 19th century history of men and women working around the Dorset coast who were not afear’d!
Together they bring both chuckles and tears as they recount tales and stories of the 18th and 19th centuries, threaded among, and enhanced by songs and tunes collected in Dorset of derring-do and resilience in yesteryear coastal, rural Dorset.
The performance is on Sunday 18th October starting at 5pm. Tickets are priced at £8 per person and are available from the following Eventbrite link:

Talk, Sip and Supper at the Martyrs Inn
Wednesday, 21 October, at 7pm | £12 pp to include supper - £1 pp of this goes to the British Homeless Veterans Fund (a charity the pub supports)
This month's speaker is Roger Sewill, stories from travelling with a pack pony.
"As a Land Agent specialising in rural planning, the countryside has long been my workplace.
With my one-horsepower companion Scarlet, a rare breed native Dales Pony whose ancestors also worked the land, I undertake long-distance, multi-day horse hikes linking landscapes, history, and communities on foot. The Surrey to Dorset Horse Hike in 2024 and The Dorset Horse Hike 2026 took me 200 miles connecting 30 Iron Age Hillforts and finished the trek here in Tolpuddle."

Creative Clay for All
Thursday, 12 November at Tolpuddle Old Chapel 19.00 - 21.00
The Festive One £30
This is a session suitable for beginners and the more advanced. Gather friends together for this joyful and relaxed creative evening. There will be a demo of an item to make. If you have been to a session before you may decide to develop and work on your own project. If this is the case please let me know in advance so I can bring suitable textures and stamps for your project. There are festive rollers, textures, stamps and cutters. There are even dinosaur cutters!
Pieces will be kiln fired and ready about 2-3 weeks later.
Class is from 7pm to 9pm, Thursday 12th November 2026 at Tolpuddle Old Chapel, 59a Main Road, Tolpuddle, DT2 7ET.
The building is on the main road, opposite the play area.
There are even tea and coffee facilities.
Refunds on classes are not available if cancelled less than 14 days before the class.

Tim Laycock and Alastair Braidwood present: "To Autumn Yellow Turn’d"
The second session of Tolpuddle Old Chapel Trust's Autumn / Winter season of Sunday Sessions is brought by Tim Laycock and Alastair Braidwood.
"To Autumn Yellow Turn'd" is a seasonal celebration of folk song, traditional dance tunes, Dorset poems and stories on the subject of harvest, autumn and cider. Tim and Alastair will be playing Concertina, Melodion and Penny Whistle, and singing in two part harmony. They will also include a couple of the songs from the ‘Six Men of Dorset’ play.
